Everyone makes there own standards.  The things you tell yourself you won't do and the vision of the person you want to be outline your behavior patterns.  At least you hope… right?

But of course most people don't have that type of self control and they break their own promises.  Utimatley you feel bad and mostly disappointed in yourself.

But why?

Im pretty sure everyone knows that they set unrealistic goals and expectations for themselves and others… at least I do.  When they aren't met, whether from yourself or another person the guilt sets in.  I like having high expectations for everything, it helps you work towards goals and its motivating.

At the same time I don't believe we should feel less than when we do things seemingly "out of character" … because well, they aren't.  If you did it then obviously you wanted to do it.  It's a part of your personality that you dislike and try and suppress but ultimately it will rear its ugly head just when you had yourself convinced you're a good girl…or boy.

Watever the point is that as long as you recognize all of that and don't let yourself feel too badly about things you did and lie to yourself about how it was out of character which isn't true because you did it so somewhere in you there is a tiny place, a microscopic place that thinks it was awesome and totally worth it.

if you do something you weren't planning on, just embrace it and go with the flow instead of getting all bent out of shape about it.  I did something I wasn't planning on recently but it looks like it may turn out to be one of the best decisions I've made in a while … or not but at least it was fun!

So have the high standards, set goals, make good decisions, but if by chance you falter …

fuck it
